Notions of the University Highschool Students About Educational Quality

Under the neoliberal ideology that currently dominates the field of formal education, the term "quality" is present in the formulation of goals and strategic objectives included in institutional plans, technically representing a macro-criterion to evaluate it. According to Gago (2002), using only the term "quality" without any accompanying qualifier is ambiguous, as stating that something is of quality is an obviousness, since everything has quality, even if it is bad. This author points out that the essence of evaluation lies in the adjective that must be added to the noun "quality," and thus finding the most appropriate adjective, that is, the correct and true qualification of the quality of something, is the purpose of evaluation. Consequently, when discussing the quality of educational programs, it is desirable to have transparent and precise evaluation processes in their paradigms, approaches, and methods, so that the results revealed are credible, valid, and reliable.
