The presence of women in politics is undeniable and they seem to have all the doors open to perform in positions of popular representation, however, the road to achieving this has been long and barely possible in part through a series of reforms to the federal and local constitutions. This article makes a historical overview of the reforms that managed to establish gender parity in the composition of the Honorable Congress of the State of Aguascalientes, through the exposition of said reforms and the quantification of women in Congress from 1991 to 2016, the year in which the laws of parity would begin.
