Rateros último modelo is the first film in the Mexican film industry to depict a same-sex parent family. The presentation of this theme, which has not been addressed in Mexican film studies, implies the breaking of the traditional and patriarchal social order of mid-20th century Mexico. In order to propose new areas of research, the aim is to analyze the aforementioned issue and how this film transgresses the ethical and moral values of Mexican society of that time through the gender roles associated, mainly, with men and women.
